19th Annual MABioN Biosafety Hybrid Symposium Aug 7-9, 2023 @ University of Kentucky

The MABioN Annual Symposium is a two day conference for biosafety professionals and others involved in biosafety. The Symposium opens at 1pm on Monday and concludes after lunch on Wednesday. Presentations on various topics related to biosafety are planned for Monday afternoon, all day Tuesday and Wednesday morning. An optional half-day pre-conference workshop will be held Monday morning, and an optional facility tour on Wednesday Morning. Come and network with biosafety professionals in the Midwest area and learn and share information about biosafety. Register separately for the Monday morning workshop, which includes a break and lunch.

8:30 Preconference Course – Biosafety Bootcamp
This course is for individuals that are very new to biosafety or those who work outside of biosafety. The essential concepts of biosafety will be introduced and resources for learning more will be included. This course will likely be too basic for those who have been working in biosafety for a few years.
This will be a three-hour course to introduce the concepts of risk assessment, biocontainment equipment and facilities, decontamination, molecular biology, viral vectors, biological shipping and permits. A brief overview of the NIH guidelines and CDC select agent regulations will also be given.
This course will be instructed by experienced biosafety officers from MABioN.
This will be taught in two sessions with a 15 minute break at 10:15am
