On Wednesday, October 15, 2025 MABioN is hosting a Too Shy to Ask the Listserv webinar, with focus on NIH’s effort to modernize Biosafety.

The webinar will be from 12-1pm (Central Time)/ 1-2pm (Eastern)

These materials will help familiarize you with the changes and prepare you to submit comments.

It’s never been more important for biosafety professionals and institutions to submit questions! This webinar will begin with a brief presentation explaining the process. It will also encourage all shareholders to prepare to submit comments to the NIH to amplify the voices of biosafety in this process. This will be an interactive, open forum discussion without a formal panel.

This is a FREE webinar!  Click the link below to register.

Participants can submit questions anonymously with their registration or live during the webinar.

The Region 1 listening session held on September 30 included comments on:

    • IBC structure
    • Overlapping agencies and regulations
    • Including agents that require permits
    • Adding wild type biological agents, proteins (e.g., toxins, prions), mirror life, synthetic life, etc,
    • Excluding low risk research/low risk plant research
    • Requiring registration of exempt work without requirement for IBC approval

We look forward to seeing you there!
